Dr. Sapna Dilgir
Obstetrician, Gynaecologist and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon
Dr Sapna Dilgir is an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist who completed post-graduate medicine at Sydney University. Her first degree was a double major in food and nutritional sciences which she graduated with honours.
She then moved to Townsville to undertake a fellowship in female pelvic floor surgery under the guidance of a world renowned surgeon. After becoming a fully qualified obstetrician and gynaecologist she undertook further training in advanced laparoscopy surgery in order to become a member of the Australasian Gynaecologic Endoscopic Society (AGES).
She has an interest in pelvic floor dysfunction including prolapse and incontinence. She is especially passionate about birth trauma and sexual dysfunction. Being an advanced laparoscopic surgeon, she is able to perform complex gynaecological surgeries. Dr Dilgir continues to have an interest in obstetrics with a focus on high-risk pregnancies
Dr Dilgir has presented at international and national gynaecological meetings and published in scientific journals. She has a significant role in medical student education including being a senior lecturer at James Cook University and is currently involved holding elective placements for Griffith Medical Students.
She has a love for Northern New South Wales and Southern Gold Coast. When Dr Dilgir is not working she is walking her dog Marli, going for walk or trying to surf. She embraces the living in a small community and if you see her, she is always happy stop and have a chat.
