Dr. Jerome Melon
Urogynaecologist and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgeon (MBBS FRANZCOG CU)
Dr Jerome Melon is a sub-specialist Urogynaecologist and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgeon who has recently transitioned his existing Urogynaecology practice to John Flynn Private Hospital.
Dr Melon works both in private and public practice, in addition to regularly volunteering in fistula surgery camps for those most in need in Africa and Madagascar. He has specific interests and surgical skills in the management of vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence and fistula, with extensive training and expertise in non-mesh (native tissue) pelvic reconstructive surgeries and pelvic mesh excision.
As a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Dr Melon undertook a further 3 years of sub-specialist fellowship training in urogynaecology at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Jerome is fluent in both English and French.
Dr Melon values every patient experience and strongly believes in informed consent and shared decision making, creating an environment where patients are comfortable to make their best individual choices. He is a highly trained surgeon having worked in internationally renowned institutions, who can offer all forms of abdominal, vaginal, and minimally invasive surgeries to treat pelvic floor dysfunction.
Dr Melon is active in the urogynaecology field and has authored several research papers, is a reviewer for the International Urogynaecology Journal, and is passionate about the teaching of fellows and trainees. He is a sub-specialist fellowship training supervisor and sits on the Board of Examiners for the Certification in Urogynaecology (CU). He also partakes in the Education Committee for the International Urogynaecological Association and is Co-chair on the organising committee for the Urogynaecological Society of Australasia annual scientific meeting to be held in Brisbane in September 2024. When not at work, Jerome enjoys painting, kayaking and competitive ocean swimming.
Dr Melon has public appointments as a Urogynaecologist at Gold Coast University Hospital & Queensland Pelvic Mesh Service, QEII Jubilee Hospital, as well as consulting privately at John Flynn Private Hospital (Gold Coast), and Greenslopes Private Hospital (Brisbane).
